bringing home the bacon

Monday November 17th 2003

I already have a potential client. The mayor. He wants to do a brochure and a video promoting Lomié. So, clearly not the poorest of the poor, but he has money, and the product will help move Lomié out of the realm of the media invisible.. to the impossible to find. I would also like to make a plea… anyone who has work that can be done remotely.. I want it. Simple stuff, boring stuff… that is what I am looking for. 200$ here, 500$ there… if I can do a total of 1,000$ worth of work.. that pretty much frees me up to work for free for people here… I will also happily work for old equipement (well, video equipment, and laptops really, specialty inkjet paper.. everything else will be to difficult to get here). Anyway, I’ll make a more formal pitch to people in the future…but consider this a bug in the ear.
Arlette is supposed to be making a visit this week. She is my program officer. She, of course, will not show up today, as scheduled. It will be tomorrow..and it will be because she is sick, or something.

I have:

- an old MAC laptop (Wall Street edition) in semi-functional order
- an Epson Stylus printer that is supposed to print panoramic. I haven't been able to get it working since I took it out of the box 2 years ago, but in truth I never tried very hard - and am betting you can - given my non-existent sys-admin skills
- and can throw in a packet or 2 or 11X17 photo quality paper

how do we get it to you?

- a

ps. you're sounding almost Republican in your previous post there pal ;>

thanks for the offer. I think the computer would have to come with someone who will visit, as sending it would be.. expensive and problematic...there are a lot of problems with corruption at the borders and customs, but it would be VERY welcome. The printer could be sent on a slow boat, meaning regular air-mail (if it isn't too expensive) and the paper can either go to Gwinn, or my Parents who send me stuff, or also in the regular air-mail. My address is Ben Olander care of VSO, BP 25127 Messa Yaoundé, Cameroon

as for sounding republican... I've always been an entrepreneur.. but more importantly, republicans believe that helping the the rich will change society for the better, not the middle class... the idea is that the middle class should be allowed to get rich,if they know the right people of course. Trickle down and all of that..
and besides, I didn't say anything about drinking the blood of children for breakfast, so I can't be republican.
